Apparently is not normal for a 2 year old to be able to use a touch pad on a laptop (or a mouse at all for that matter). Check out this video of Cole playing his Winnie the Poo game on the computer. The game is like a paint by number. You click a honey pot with a number on it and then click the space on the picture that has the corresponding number. Here's the game.
Cole: I'm makin' beautiful now..not yet Daddy. Not yet.
Me: It's not beautiful yet?
Cole: No, I'm painting it more.
Me: Can you tell us what numbers those are?
Cole: I didn't do them all Mommy.
Me: You didn't do them all? Which ones do you have left?
Cole: Four and two
Me: That's right!!
